(UPDATED) Starting April 10th, 2025, U.S., Canada, and Australia citizens will need a visitor visa to enter Brazil on tourism or business.
Visa applications are available in electronic, format (e-visa). It is 100% online and the traveler does not need to visit or submit any physical documents to our office.
RESULTS OF SUBMISSION OF THE DOCUMENTS ON THE E-CONSULAR PLATFORM:
After submitting the required documents on the E-consular platform, the applicant will receive an email informing of the results. If approved, the applicant will be able to schedule an appointment to present the documents in person at the Consulate. If not approved, the applicant will receive an email informing of further procedures to continue with the visa application.
Who can apply
A Visitor Visa (VIVIS) may be granted to persons willing to travel to Brazil for tourism purposes (travel, leisure, family meetings, etc), for travellers in transit or for those who wish to participate in either artistic or sports events, as long as no salary or other financial reward is paid for by Brazilian companies.
Only Hong Kong and Macao residents with a valid HKID or Macao BIR are eligible to apply for a visa at this Consulate-General.
Exemptions
Holders of Hong Kong SAR and of Macao SAR passports are exempt from Visitor Visa for the purposes listed above for stays of up to 90 days.
ATTENTION: Holders of Hong Kong SAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes and of Macao Travel Permit are required to apply for an entry visa.

How to apply
In order to apply for a tourist visa, the applicant must request an appointment at the Consulate-General through the E-CONSULAR system and present the required documents listed below.

- Complete the online Application Form. There is no printable version available for download.
- Provide all the required information – please note that some fields are mandatory.
- Click on the "Complete Application" button to generate the Visa Request Form Receipt (RER);
- Print and sign the RER; affix your photo on the indicated field and upload it on the E-Consular platform;
- For minor children (under 18 years old), the printed RER must be signed by both parents.
- Upload the digital copies of all documents listed below on E-Consular platform. Applications without the uploaded documents will not be accepted.
- IMPORTANT: The Consulate does not print the Visa Request Form Receipt (RER). If the applicant does not bring the printed RER, it will not be possible to submit the application.

- Recent photo taken no more than 6 months before the time of application
- The printed photo and the photo uploaded on the online application form must be the same
|
Valid Passport
|
- Original passport signed by the applicant, with at least two contiguous blank pages left.
- Please note that pages reserved for amendments cannot be used for visa purposes.
- Your passport must be in good condition in order to be accepted as a valid document. It must not be torn, wet, damp, stained, cut, punctured, excessively dirty etc.
- Adults must sign their passports. Passports of minors do not need to be signed. *Very few countries have passports which do not require signature. Check your passport and make sure it is signed should there be a field for it.

Original birth certificate
|
- The original birth certificate must display both parent's full names in English.
- If the birth certificate is written in Chinese, translation into English will be required.
- For Chinese applicants: the "registration card for residents" (居民戶口簿, 登記事項變更和更正記載, 常住人口登記卡) of the applicant and each of his/her parents, along with an English translation, may be presented as a substitute for the birth certificate. Unofficial translations are accepted.

Leave letter from employer
|
- A leave letter is a document issued by the company where the applicant works, signed by an authorized employee of said company.
- The letter should attest the fact that the applicant is employed at the company and has been authorized to take a personal vacation or leave of absence.
- The letter should acknowledge the applicant's intention to travel to Brazil for leisure.
- If self-employed, unemployed or otherwise employed, the applicant may write a personal letter to the Consulate, informing of his or her employment status.

Round trip-ticket
|
- Copy of the round-trip-ticket or e-ticket bearing applicant’s name; or
- Signed letter from the airline or travel agent, on their letterhead, with the itinerary, the passengers' full names, flight number or cruise information, and dates of arrival and departure from Brazil.

Accommodation
|
- Hotel reservation bearing applicant’s name and the length of stay.
- If the main purpose of the trip is to visit a Brazilian citizen in Brazil, or any other person residing in Brazil, and the applicant has no other means of demonstrating the purpose of the trip clearly, the following should be presented to the Consulate:
- A brief letter from the person residing in Brazil, acknowledging that he or she knows the applicant, who is traveling to visit them. This letter must be signed by the Brazilian citizen or resident, then scanned and sent to the applicant, who must print it and take it to the Consulate; and
- A scanned image of an identification document of the Brazilian citizen or resident who has written the letter - such as ID card or passport. The scanned image must also be emailed to the applicant, who should print it and bring it to the Consulate along with the remaining documents.

3-month bank statements (proof of financial means)
|
- The bank statements must identify the applicant as the account holder.
- There is no specific amount of money required for a visa application to be processed. It is necessary that the applicant demonstrates having adequate financial means for the intended trip.
- If the applicant is a minor, financial statements from either or both parents may be provided.

MINORS ONLY:
Birth certificate
|
- If the applicant is under the age of 18, a copy of the birth certificate is required, in order to verify that the adults assisting the minors are in fact his or her parents.

Authorization for the Issuance of a Visa to a Minor

- Brazilian regulations determine that no visa shall be issued to a minor without the express, written consent of both parents.
- The form should be typed or filled in clear handwriting and signed by both parents.
- If one parent is deceased: attach a copy of the Death Certificate.
- If one parent has been granted sole custody: Attach proof of sole guardianship with clear statement by the relevant authority that the parent has been granted the right to single-handedly make all decisions affecting the minor (Ex: Divorce documents);
- Brazil is a signatory of The Hague Convention on the International Kidnapping of Minors. Therefore, there are no exceptions to the necessity of both parents providing clear, written consent for the issuance of a visa for any person under the age of 18.

- A copy of the passports of both parents must be provided

CONSULAR FEES:
PLEASE BE ADVISED: the payment of the consular fee does not guarantee that the visa will be granted. The consular fee is required as part of the application analyses process and will not be reimbursed in case the visa is not granted or denied due to lack of documentation by the applicant or any other relevant reason that may prevent the visa from being granted during the application analyses process.

All documents should be written in English. Documents written in Chinese will not be accepted.
