- SOME TYPES OF PAYMENTS ARE ALLOWED: The beneficiary of a visitor visa may receive certain forms of payment from the government, from a Brazilian employer, or from a private entity, such as reimbursement for travel expenses (the Consulate will verify the applicant’s paperwork in order to establish if the payment to be received by the applicant is compatible with the visitor visa). If the applicant is going to receive any sort of payment from Brazilian sources, he/she must provide comprehensive paperwork related to the intended trip. The visitor visa can also be used for travelers that intend to compete for prizes, including money, sports competitions, or artistic or cultural competitions. The following types of payment are allowed: daily allowances, artistic paychecks, compensation, or other travel expenses.
- STOPOVERS AND TRANSIT: No visa is required for stopovers or connections in Brazilian airports, provided that the visitor does not leave the international transit area. If the traveler is going to leave the international transit area, a visit visa is required.
- THE SAME VISITOR VISA CAN BE USED FOR DIFFERENT PURPOSES: A visitor visa can be used for different purposes, on the same trip, or on different occasions, provided the purposes are covered by the visitor visa rules listed above. For example: you can apply for a visitor visa for a tourist visit and, in the future, use the same visa for a business trip; or you can do business and tourism on the same trip.
