VITEM IX – Investment
This type of visa requires to start the process in Brazil. The Brazilian company or institution must file a petition for temporary residency authorization at the Ministry of Justice (“Ministério da Justiça”). Only after the authorization is granted, the applicant will be able to apply for a work visa at the Consulate General of Brazil in Hartford.
ELIGIBILITY:
1) Administrator, manager, director or executive with supervising responsibilitities over a foreign corporation or society that intends to invest in a Brazilian counterpart;
2) Individual who intends to invest at least R$ 500.000,00 in a Brazilian company/enterprise;
3) Individual who intends to invest at least R$ 150.000,00 in a Brazilian startup;
4) Individual who intends to inves at least R$ 700.000,00 in real estate in the North or Northeast regions of Brazil;
5) Individual who intends to invest at least R$ 1.000.000,00 in real estate in the Center West, Southeast or South regions of Brazil.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
1) PASSPORT: Signed, valid up to the end of your trip and with at least one visa blank page available (amendment pages are not accepted).
2) VISA APPLICATION FORM: One per applicant, completely filled out online and signed by the passport holder or his/her parents/guardians. You will need to print only the receipt page with the bar code.
3) PHOTO: One recent 2” x 2” passport-photo size, front view, white background.
4) BACKGROUND CHECK: FBI Clearance or Local Police Department Clearance issued within the last six months.
5) BIRTH CERTIFICATE: Copy of your birth certificate.- If the Birth Certificate is not in English, Portuguese, or French, it must be accompanied by an official translation into one of these languages.
NOTE: Once in Brazil, you must present at Federal Police the birth certificate authenticated by an Apostille. It should be also translated by a certified translator in Brazil (“tradutor juramentado”).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1) FOREIGN RESIDENTS: Evidence of legal stay in the U.S. (e.g.: Copy of the US Alien Resident Card and/or a Valid Visa.)
2) MINORS:
- Visa Request Form Receipt – RER must be signed by both parents or legal guardians;
- Original or notarized copy or birth certificate;
- Copy of parents' passports; and
