VITEM VII - Religious Activity

ELIGIBILITY:
Minister of religious confession, member of institution of consecrated life, or confessional, or religious order, or missionary who intend to go to Brazil for religious/missionary purpose or religious assistance services without employment contract.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- PASSPORT: Signed, valid up to the end of your trip and with at least one visa blank page available (amendment pages are not accepted).
- VISA APPLICATION FORM: One per applicant, completely filled out online and signed by the passport holder or his/her parents/guardians. You will need to print only the receipt page with the bar code.
- PHOTO: One recent 2” x 2” passport-photo size, front view, white background.
- BACKGROUND CHECK: FBI Clearance or Local Police Department Clearance issued within the last six months.
- BIRTH CERTIFICATE: copy of your birth certificate.
NOTE: Once in Brazil, you must present at Federal Police the birth certificate authenticated by an Apostille. It should be also translated by a certified translator in Brazil (“tradutor juramentado”).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- FROM THE RELIGIOUS INSTITUTION IN BRAZIL:
- Act of establishment (“Ata de Constituição ou Estatuto Social”) of the institution in Brazil.
- Invitation letter from the institution in Brazil attesting eligibility of the applicant, stating length of stay, place and type of the religious work to be performed in Brazil.
- Charter and/or bylaws of the institution in Brazil.
- Affidavit from the institution in Brazil, signed by its legal representative, assuring lodging and financial support for the intended party and members of his/her accompanying family, and assuming full responsibility for the departure of the clergyman and his/her family from Brazil.
- FROM THE APPLICANT:
- Letter from the institution in the United States attesting eligibility of the applicant, stating length of stay, place and type of the religious work to be performed in Brazil.
- Certificate or diploma of theological or academic religious education and school transcript of theological studies.
- “Curriculum-Vitae” (résumé).
- Letter “Statement of commitment” stating that the missionary will not engage in any activity in Indian areas without the proper authorization issued by FUNAI (National Indian Foundation).
- FOREIGN RESIDENTS/NON-US CITIZENS: Evidence of legal stay in the U.S. (e.g.: copy of Green Card or Valid Visa.)
- MINORS:
- Visa Request Form Receipt – RER must be signed by both parents or legal guardians;
- Original or notarized copy or birth certificate;
- Copy of parents' passports; and
