VISOF – Official Visa
ELIGIBILITY:
1) Employee of a foreign government recognized by Brazil on official business or on an official mission representing.
2) Employee of an international organization recognized by Brazil, such as the United Nations, Organization of American States, World Health Organization, UNICEF etc, on official business or on an official mission.
3) Applicant on behalf of a foreign government on an official mission as a student or intern.
4) Applicant on behalf of a foreign government on an official mission based on an international agreement signed with Brazil.
5) Representative of a foreign government who will provide technical assistance, expert consultancy or cooperation based on an international agreement signed with Brazil.
6) Representative of a foreign government in a cooperation mission with a Brazilian governmental organization.
7) Military of a foreign government who will attend a course at any of the Brazilian Armed Forces academies.
8) Foreign diplomat accepted to study at Instituto Rio Branco (IRBr).
9) Director/manager of the Alliance Française, the Goethe-Institut, the Miguel de Cervantes Institute, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) or the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KFW).
10) Intern of an embassy or a consulate in Brazil.
11) Intern of an international organization, such as the United Nations, Organization of American States, World Health Organization, UNICEF etc, officially recognized by Brazil.
12) Eligible family members of diplomatic (VIDIP) or official (VISOF) visa holders, such as: spouse, partner, minor or adult financially depended on the visa holder.
13) Artist or athlete going to Brazil for a free of charge cultural event traveling as per request of the Brazilian or foreign government.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
1) PASSPORT: Signed, valid up to the end of your trip and with at least one visa blank page available (amendment pages are not accepted).
2) VISA APPLICATION FORM: One per applicant, completely filled out online and signed by the passport holder or his/her parents/guardians. You will need to print only the receipt page with the bar code.
3) PHOTO: One recent 2” x 2” passport-photo size, front view, white background.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable):
1) NOTE VERBALE:
1.1) An U.S. Department of State’s note verbale stating applicant’s full name, nationality, position, department/agency, and passport number, as well as the nature and duration of the mission; or
1.2) A note verbale from the organization stating applicant’s full name, nationality, position, organization/department, and passport/laissez-passer number, as well as the nature and duration of the mission; or
1.3) A note verbale from the Foreign Mission stating applicant’s full name, nationality, position, department/agency, and passport number, as well as the nature and duration of the mission; or
1.4) An invitation letter from the organization responsible stating applicant’s full name, nationality, position, department/agency, and passport number, as well as the nature and duration of the stay in Brazil;
2) FOREIGN RESIDENTS: Copy of the US Alien Resident Card and/or a Valid Visa.
3) MINORS:
- Visa Request Form Receipt – RER must be signed by both parents or legal guardians;
- Original or notarized copy or birth certificate;
- Copy of parents' passports; and
- Notarized authorization form signed by both parents / legal guardians. Click here to download the form.
