VITEM IV: Study (Grade School, Undergraduate, Graduate, or Study Abroad Programs - over 90 days)

If your program will last less than 90 days, you may enter Brazil on a Visitor Visa (VIVIS)

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Passport (valid and signed with at least two blank Visa pages)
• Copy of proof of residence in the U.S. (visa or Green Card), for non-U.S. citizens
• Water, energy or gas bill in applicant's name
• Visa Application Form Receipt (printed and signed)                
• Passport photo (2’’x 2’’)
• U.S. Postal Service Money Order payable to the Consulate General of Brazil in Atlanta (see Visa Fees page). Visa fees are non-refundable.
• Birth Certificate (copy) - if not born in the USA, Birth Certificate must be apostilled or legalized
• FBI Background Check (issued within the past 60 days)
• Proof of enrollment in accredited foreign university or other accredited institution of higher learning, if applicable
• Proof of enrollment in Brazilian university or other accredited institution of higher learning in which applicant will complete his or her program
• Must state applicant’s name, duration of program, and guarantee of a minimum of 15 hours of academic instruction per week.
• Proof of adequate funds for the duration of applicant’s stay in Brazil
• At least 3 months of checking/savings account balances, lines of credit, affidavit of financial sponsorship by parents/sponsor(s), scholarship awards, etc.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MINORS

In addition to the visa application requirements stated above, applicants who are younger than 18 years of age at the time of application must present the following additional materials:

• Copy of birth certificate
• Authorization for Issuance of Brazilian Visa for a Minor, signed by both parents. Signatures must be notarized.

If only one parent is listed on birth certificate, only that parent’s signature is required. If one parent has sole custody of applicant, a notarized copy of the court order awarding sole custody and exclusive parental rights must be presented. If one parent is deceased, a death certificate must be presented.

• For children of Brazilian parent(s): Declaração de Não-Cidadania declaring that the applicant is not a Brazilian citizen, signed by Brazilian parent(s), if applicable.
• Copy of passports or other form of photo ID for both parents.

The name on the parent’s photo ID must match parent’s name on the child’s birth certificate. If said parent has changed his or her name since the issuance of the birth certificate, the parent must present documentation showing proof of the name change (e.g. marriage certificate or court order).

HOW TO APPLY

The documentation listed above may be submitted:

►  In person:

• Applicants may deliver the documentation in a closed/sealed envelope at the Consulate, Monday through Friday, between 1pm and 3pm. No documentation will be analyzed at the time of delivery.
• Applicants are responsible for checking visa status here. No e-mail will be sent to inform when the visa is ready for pick-up.
• Applicants may choose to pick up the visa in person at the Consulate, Monday through Friday, between 1pm and 3pm (no third parties allowed) or leave a self-addressed, pre-paid return envelope (Priority or Priority Express flat-rate only) from the U.S. Postal Service envelope.

Visas submitted by mail are the sole responsibility of the applicant. The Consulate is not responsible for any delays or loss by the postal service, nor will it track or provide information of the whereabouts of documentation sent.
