Visit Visa (VIVIS)
VISIT VISA (VIVIS)
VISIT VISA EXEMPTION
Since June 17th, 2019, nationals of Australia, Canada, Japan and United States are exempt of Visit Visas, for purposes of tourism, business, transit and sportive or artistic activities in Brazil. Stays in the country under these purposes are allowed for up to 90 days, extendable for the same period, provided that the visitor does not exceed 180 days of stay in the Brazilian territory every 12 months, counting from the date of the first entry.
The Consulate General of Brazil in Atlanta informs that, currently, Chinese and Indian citizens who wish to visit Brazil under these purposes need to apply for a Visit Visa.

1) WHO CAN APPLY FOR A VISIT VISA?
Visit visas may be granted to visitors for a short stay (up to 90 days), for the following purposes:
1 - tourism;
2 - business;
3 - transit; and
4 - artistic or sports activities.
2) IMPORTANT RULES ABOUT VISIT VISAS:
A) NO EMPLOYMENT IN BRAZIL: The beneficiary of a visit's visa is prohibited from engaging in paid employment in Brazil.
B) SOME TYPES OF PAYMENTS ARE ALLOWED: The beneficiary of a visit's visa may receive certain forms of payment from the government, from a Brazilian employer or from a private entity, such as reimbursement for travel expenses (the Consular authority will verify the applicant’s paperwork in order to stablish if the payment to be received by the applicant is compatible with the visitor visa).
If the applicant is going to receive any sort of payment from Brazilian sources, he/she must provide comprehensive paperwork related to intended trip.
The visit's visa can also be used for travelers that intend to compete for prizes, including money, sports competitions or artistic or cultural competitions.
C) STOPOVERS AND TRANSIT: No visa is required for stopovers or connections in Brazilian airports, provided that the visitor does not leave the international transit area. If the traveler is going to leave the international transit area, a visit visa is required.
D) THE SAME VISITOR VISA CAN BE USED FOR DIFFERENT PURPOSES: A visit's visa can be used for different purposes, in the same trip or in different occasions, provided the purposes are covered by the visit's visa rules listed above.
Example: you can apply for a visit's visa for a tourist visit and, in the future, use the same visa for a business trip; or you can do business and tourism in the same trip.
