2) What is the required paperwork?

In addition to the General Requirements you must also present:

A. Original birth certificate of the applicant; 

B. Proof of relationship to the Brazilian national or Foreign citizen with residency in Brazil (e.g.: Birth certificate of the Brazilian national or Marriage Certificate);

C. FBI Background Check issued within the last 3 months (request may be submitted to an FBI-approved channeler);

D. Affidavit signed by the Brazilian relative (this document must signed by the Brazilian relative at the Consulate, and signature must be legalized by the Consulate - this service costs USD 20 and must be paid by USPS money order). Alternatively, the signature can also be notarized in Brazil at a "Cartório" office.

E. Original or notarized copy of Brazilian relative's Passport or Brazilian ID (RG).  

Additional documentation may be requested at the Consular Authority’s discretion.
