Processing time and Visa status
Please plan your application in advance as visas are NOT issued on the same day. It is the applicant’s responsibility to present the complete documentation in due time and make travel plans accordingly.There are no expediting fees, services.
All applicants must be aware that waiting times mentioned reflect the AVERAGE and that processing time of a specific case may vary due to individual circumstances and other special requirements.
The passport will be kept at this Consulate during this period.
When applying in person: (only in urgency and emergency cases) up to 05 business days, unless there is need for additional administrative procedures or you are a passport holder from one of the countries listed below. In those cases, waiting time will be longer. You will need to send email to visa.atlanta@itamaraty.gov.br with all informations and detais about the urgency and emergency.
When applying by mail or drop box (locate inside the Consulate General of Brazil in Atlanta - walk ins for drop box are welcome): up to 10 business days FROM PACKAGE ARRIVAL, unless there is need for additional administrative procedures or you are a passport holder from one of the countries listed below. In those cases, waiting time may be longer.
ATTENTION!
Processing time is increased by up to 20 business days for passport holders of
- North Korea,
- Nigeria,
- Central African Republic, and
- Senegal
Applicants holding passports from one of the countries listed above, must also provide detailed information on applicant's place of lodging in Brazil (hotel reservation or letter from Brazilian host), flight and notarized bank statements reflecting the past 3 months are required.
CHECKING MY VISA APPLICATION STATUS
Please go to https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br/sci/pages/web/pacomPasesWebInicial.jsf. For English, click on the UK flag at top right of the screen.
Click CHECK STATUS button to check your visa application status using your recovery code and last name OR check your status using your full name as printed in your passport and your date of birth.
Read the status of your visa application. You will see green balloons for each completed step of the application:
- SENT: you have successfully filled out a visa application form. You must submit all required documentation to the Consulate.
- UNDER REVIEW: your visa application package containing your original passport is currently being processed at the Consulate.
- APPROVED: your application has been approved and the visa stamp will be printed soon.
- READY FOR DELIVERY (OR RETRIVE): your visa has been processed, authorized and printed. Use the tracking number on the return envelope to check when your documentation has been mailed to you and its current status. If you used the in person Drop box, you can come to retrive our services, monday to friday 8am until 12pm and 1pm until 3pm. We do not track envelopes for applicants.
NOTE: If your visa was submitted by a Travel Agent/Visa Agency, the Consulate recognizes the Agent as your representative. Any issues or inquiries should be followed by the visa agency.
