FAQ e-consular questions and answers
-> what is the e-consular?
It is the new system for requesting consular services, which will be adopted by the Consulate General of Brazil in Atlanta over the next few weeks. Initially, it will be offered for passport.
-> Which site do I use to schedule a consular service?
To schedule a service, the e-consular system should be used at the address of ec-Atlanta.itamaraty.gov.br
-> I put my email to log in, but I can't access the e-consular. What happened?
It is not enough to enter the email to enter the e-consular. Check your email if you have reached the message from the e-consular with link to access the system. Click the message link.
-> I checked my email and did not get the message with the link enter the system. What's next?
Make sure the email from the consular email didn't go to your spam box. If the problem remains, try using another email address.
-> why do I have to fill in all this information and upload the documentation?
The goal is to ensure that you have all the correct documentation required for the requested service. In this way, the desired service will be served more efficiently in the shorter term.
If any incursing or omission of documents is identified, you will be instructed to correct it before attending the Consulate.
Thus, the e-consular system will allow greater agility in the granting of consular services, which will result in faster service and greater provision of services for scheduling, mail and Drop Box.
The new system also aims to prevent fraud and illicit use of the scheduling system.
-> I filled out the entire request in the e-consular and finished the service. Why don't you come up with the calendar to set a date?
You need to wait for the validation email from the Consulate General team or the request to supplement information. The validation message will not be immediate. Be patient and wait for communication from the Consulate General. Typically, the validation email that will authorize the service schedule will be sent within seven business days, but exceptional cases may require more time for analysis. Once the documentation for sending by mail or "dop box" has been validated, the service can be started immediately, without any additional waiting.
If the electronic form is completed, the Consulate General staff will send a message indicating what is missing. You will have to re-log in to the system, access the requested service and supplement the information.
If you receive a validation message, your request has been accepted. From there, access the e-consular to proceed with the scheduling.
-> received a message from the Consulate General requesting the complementation of information. Do I have to fill out the entire e-consular request again?
No. The completed form will be saved in the system for 30 days. You will have to re-log in to the system, access the requested service and supplement the information.
->'t finished completing the request on the e-consular. Am I going to lose my information?
No. You can save the electronic form and finish filling out later. The completed form will be saved in the system for 30 days. You will have to re-log in to the system and access the requested service.
This is especially useful in case some document is missing. Fill out everything you have, save the form and gather the necessary documents. Then just re-log in and access the form again.
-> How do I upload documents?
When you fill out the electronic form of the requested service, you will see several fields requesting a copy of the document. When you find this type of field, press the button below it and search for the file on your computer. When you find the file, just save that the system will automatically upload.
Uploading will be even easier if you use a smartphone-like mobile phone. When you press the button, you will be offered the possibility to use your phone's camera to get a photo of the document, or to use the photo gallery of the device.
-> It is very difficult to upload documents! What am I supposed to do?
In fact, it is very easy to upload. You don't need a scanner, copier or any other machine. Just a photo of the document made by your own phone. The document does not need to be framed perfectly. It just needs to be clear.
If you are filling out the electronic form by your computer, but want to use your mobile phone to make the photos, just save the form and then re-enter the e-consular system on the mobile device. You can continue the service using your mobile phone to take photos of the requested documentation.
-> Is it mandatory to fill out the electronic form when requesting a service by mail?
Yes. The goal is for documentation to be checked before submission to avoid errors. The sending without the prior request of the service through the e-consular will result in immediate return of the documents.
-> need to apply to the service urgently. How do I do it?
First, initiate the request in the e-consular. Forward e-mail to the responsible sector (address list here), justifying the urgency and wait for contact from the sector about your case.
-> service request has been validated and opened the schedule for scheduling. However, I can't find the desired date. How to do it?
New dates and times are opened daily by the system. In addition, some services, such as passports, will offer the possibility of sending the documentation by mail or collection/drop off, without the need for scheduling.
-> have questions about the documentation required for the requested service. Who can I ask?
The Consulate General serves the public only through e-mail. Carefully read the area of this website referring to the desired service (menu to squeet). Chaos remain doubts, forward email to the responsible sector (address list here)
-> I can't use the scheduling system. What am I supposed to do?
Read the Q&A section or access the tutorial with the step-by-step explanations of the scheduling system.
-> I went into the scheduling site but only one blank page appears. What's the big deal?
Older versions of Internet browsers, especially Internet Explorer, are not supported by e-consular. If you encounter this issue, update your browser or use a different browser, such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari.
-> Is it possible to schedule more than one service for the same date?
Some services can be scheduled in combination in the e-consular system (https://ec-Atlanta.itamaraty.gov.br) and be performed on the same day. This option is currently available for the following services: Life Certificate + Power of Attorney for INSS and Birth Registration for children under 12 years + first passport.
In addition to the combined services option, you can also schedule more than one service for the same day. To do so, it is necessary to wait for all requested services to be authorized to schedule them individually for the same available date.
If you have already scheduled one of the services and have no date available to schedule the rest of the calls, you can cancel the appointment and reschedule it. To do this, log in to the e-consular (https://ec-Atlanta.itamaraty.gov.br) and click on the "cancel scheduling" option.
You can only cancel and reschedule your service once. If you need to cancel again or don't show up on the scheduled day and time, you'll need to make a new service request.
-> want to cancel and reschedule my schedule, how do I?
If you need to cancel the schedule of a service and change the date, you need to access the e-consular system (ec-Atlanta.itamaraty.gov.br) and click the "reschedule" option next to the desired service.
You can only reschedule once. If the schedule is canceled again, you will need to make a new service request.
The Consulate recommends that, before scheduling a service, check if you can actually attend that date and time.
-> scheduled my service, but I'm not going to be able to make it. Can I mail it?
In this case, go to the e-consular (https://ec-Atlanta.itamaraty.gov.br) and click on the "reschedule" option next to the service. If it is your first attempt to reschedule, your service will be canceled and the site will provide a screen with new times and the option to "send documentation by mail or collection". If you have previously changed the time for this service, you will need to make a new service request.
-> What services can be requested via mail
All services can be requested by mail (and ALL only after previously approved by E-Consular system), with the exception of:
- Power of Attorneys.
- CPF (Brazil "Social Security").
- Records (birth, marriage, deaths, etc.
- Military discharge certificate.
-> How does the collection/drop off service look?
The collection and delivery of documents via collection/drop off remains, now with extended hours: Monday to Friday, from 8am to 12pm and from 1pm to 3pm
The delivery of documents by collection /drop off must also be preceded by the validation of the documents requested via e-consular by the responsible sector.
