DIPLOMATIC OR OFFICIAL PASSPORT

Only the people related in the arts. 6th and 8th of Decree 5,978/2006 are authorized to apply for diplomatic (PADIP) or official (PASOF) passports. The issuance of the official passport depends on authorization from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE). |

Military personnel in service to the Brazilian Government must first apply for the official passport to the Attachers of the Armed Forces at the Embassy of Brazil in Washington, responsible for processing the request in Brazil with the military authorities and Itamaraty. The Consulate may only issue PASOF after receiving authorization from the MRE. |
