a) General rules
- Volunteers and social workers: VITEM-I visas are issued to a foreign citizen traveling to work for a religious or social assistance institutions or for a public interest Nongovernmental Organization (NGO) - provided that he/she is not employed by a company or institution in Brazil.
- The Consulate will only issue the visa after the requirement is granted by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Authorizations to retrieve a visa are valid for 180 days after reception by the Consulate General.
- Maximum duration of the visa: two years.
b) Required documents
1– Passports presented must be original, valid for at least 6 (six) months prior to expiration date. The passport must have at least 2 (two) blank visa pages;
2 - Copy of all relevant and stamped pages of the passport, legalized with an “Apostille”;
3 - One recent 3,5 cm x 4,5 cm (pasfoto) photograph, front view, light background;
4 – One visa application form per person (click here to fill in the form). Please disregard the error message about the website’s security certificate. Click at “Continue to this website (not recommended)”;
Fill in the form.
. Click "SEND" to receive your processing number and receipt.
. Print the receipt.
. Attach your photograph
. Sign the receipt.
. Bring the duly completed and signed receipt, original documents and passport. The payment will be done during the process at the Consulate by “PIN”(debit card).
5 – Proof of studies and professional qualification compatible with the activities to be carried out in Brazil;
Diplomas written in Dutch must be translated into Portuguese, Spanish, French or English by a sworn translator before being delivered at the Consulate, together with the original of these documents. Both (Diploma and translation) must bear the “Apostille”. If these requirements presented are judged insufficient, application will be refused.
6 – Letter of invitation from the Brazilian institution specifying details of work place and type of activities to be carried out by the applicant, notarized by a Notary Public, in Brazil (Apostille);
7 – Written statement from the Brazilian Institution - notarized by a Notary Public in Brazil (Apostille) - taking full responsibility for the maintenance of the applicant and dependents while in Brazil and for its return to the Netherlands;
8 – Written statement from the Brazilian Institution taking full responsibility for the health care of the applicant and his/her dependents during their stay in Brazil, notarized by a Notary Public in Brazil;
9 – Proof of existence of the Brazilian sponsoring institution, i.e. social statutes, articles of association, appointment act or nomination of the current board of directors;
10 - Proof of the NGO's registration with the respective National, State, Federal District of Municipal Social Welfare Council;
- Legalized with “Apostille” photocopies of current documents by a Notary Public, in Brazil, or a certificate, issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice, to the effect that the NGO's activities are of public interest.
11 – Proof that the Brazilian Institution is fully functional, notarized by a Notary Public, in Brazil (Apostille);
12 - Certificate of good behavior (international model) issued by the Ministry of Justice certifying absence of criminal record – only valid within 90 days after issuance, apostilled;
- VOG - Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag: In order to issue the VOG, the Dutch authorities request a declaration provided by this Consulate. To request the declaration, send a photo of your passport to: visa.amsterdam@itamaraty.gov.br
13 – Original certificate of birth (international model), legalized by the “Apostille”;
14 – Original certificate of residence in the Netherlands (international model).
CONSULAR FEES
All fees are payable by debit card (PIN). Credit cards and “cheques” are not accepted.
