Brazil is one of the leading actors in international discussions on the environment. The country's natural characteristics make it a reference in this matter: Brazil has the world’s greatest biodiversity; the largest stretch of tropical forest and 12% of the planet's freshwater reserves.
As a developing country, Brazil also advocates the necessary combination of environment conservation, poverty eradication and economic development. This vision, consolidated in the concept of sustainable development, has led to significant results in Brazil, such as a fall in deforestation rates, expansion of clean energy matrixes, and an increase in agricultural production and productivity.
