The mapping of the characteristics of innovation-promoting environments in Brazil—which encompasses national innovation ecosystems and a survey of existing mechanisms for generating innovative ventures—is an initiative aimed at contributing to the promotion of Brazil’s image as an innovative country and a hub for cutting-edge scientific and technological knowledge production. The goal is to foster the attraction of foreign investment and encourage a greater number of partnerships between national and international actors.
The choice of a market will depend on the support and benefits that a startup or established tech company can secure. For that, it is essential to understand local legislation, barriers, the support available from innovation-promoting environments, and the local culture itself.
With these considerations in mind, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) launched the series "Innovation Ecosystems in Brazil", which explores national innovation environments, their characteristics, and key stakeholders. The documents are prepared by the Science, Technology, and Innovation Sections (SECTECs) of Itamaraty’s Regional Offices in Brazil.
Aiming to provide external stakeholders with as much information as possible about Brazil’s innovation environments, Itamaraty will also use this platform to share other informational documents developed by different organizations.
