Swiss Generalized System of Preferences
The Swiss Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) was officially notified to the World Trade Organization (WTO) on March 1, 1972. It currently benefits 120 developing countries and, in reference to Brazil, it offers preferences for 654 agricultural products and 4,494 industrial goods.
Further details on the program can be found in the Handbook prepared by UNCTAD or on the WTO follow-up page. The Swiss government is the source of official information, in particular the official Swiss tariff nomenclature, where the applicable rates are indicated by the abbreviation "GSP" in the lines that have preferences under this program.
The proof of origin required for products to qualify for concessions is submitted in the REX system ("Registered Exporter System"). More information on how to use the system can be obtained from the Ministry of Economy (seint.rex@economia.gov.br).
