University of Latin American Integration (Unila)
The Federal University of Latin American Integration (Unila) is a federal public Higher Education Institution (HEI) created in 2010, with the mission of training human resources to contribute to Latin American integration, regional development and the cultural, scientific and educational exchange in Latin America, especially in Mercosur.
Located on the Trinational Border formed by Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, Unila comprises a campus and five units in the city of Foz do Iguaçu, in the Brazilian state of Paraná. The courses offered focus on areas of mutual interest for Latin American countries, especially Mercosur members, in areas considered strategic for regional development and integration.
Unila welcomes Brazilian and foreign students and professors from Latin America, understood as all countries on the American continent that speak Spanish, Portuguese, French or other languages derived from Latin. As it is a public university, the courses are free.
Unila has specific selection processes for foreign students:
International Selection Process (PSI): for non-Brazilians from 32 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean who completed high school outside Brazil.
Selection Process for Indigenous People (PSIN): for residents of Brazil and other Latin American countries who have completed high school and prove they belong to an indigenous people, community or group.
Selection Process for Refugees and Holders of Humanitarian Visa (PSRH): for students with refugee status, whether asylum seekers or holders of humanitarian visas recognized in Brazil.
