Republic of Guinea
Brazil recognized Guinea’s Independence in 1958 and in 1973 diplomatic relations were established. The Embassy of Bazil in Conakry was opened in 2006, and the Embassy of Guinea in Brasília was opened in 2005. The creation of resident embassies, the intesnsification of high-level contacts and the signing of agreements helped to deepen bilateral realtions in the following years.
Highlights of the bilateral relations include the signing in 2011 of the memorandum of understanding creating a political consultations mechanism between the two countries and the conclusion of a technical cooperation agreement, which is in effect since 2016. Guinea-Conakry is one of the beneficiaries of a trilateral cooperation project in the area of school feeding, with the participation of Brazilian agencies and the World Food Programme’s Center of Excellence against Hunger, based in Brasília.

2019 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Guineans Abroad, Mamadi Touré, visits Brazil on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of the President of the Republic (January)
2014 – The Brazilian government makes a financial donation to United Nations agencies to combat the Ebola virus and to support the population in Guinea-Conakry, Liberia and Sierra Leone
2013 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Guineans Abroad, Louncény Fall, visits Brazil (31 July). First Meeting of the Bilateral Political Consultations Mechanism (July 31). Meeting between Presidents Dilma Rousseff and Alpha Condé on the sidelines of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the African Union, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (May)
2012 – Second visit to Brazil by President Alpha Condé, on the occasion of the Rio+20 Conference
2011 – President Alpha Condé visits Brazil on the occasion of the celebrations of the International Year of People of African Descent
2011 – Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Patriota visits Guinea-Conakry (July)
