Republic of Zimbabwe
Brazil established diplomatic relations with Zimbabwe in April 1980, on the country’s Independence Day. The resident Embassy in Harare was established in 1987.
Zimbabwe in turn opened its resident Embassy in Brasília in 2004 – its first and only diplomatic representation in South America.
A bilateral Trade Agreement and a Technical Cooperation Agreement were signed in 1988 and 2006 respectively. Bilateral cooperation takes place mainly in agricultural sectors, in particular cotton and livestock.
Bilateral trade flow totaled $6.6 million in 2022, with a Brazilian surplus of $6.2 million.

2023 – Foreign Minister Frederick Shava travels to Brazil to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva; he holds a meeting with the Director General of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency
