Republic of the Philippines
Brazil established diplomatic relations with the Philippines in 1946, shortly after the country´s Independence. The Philippines opened their embassy in Brazil in 1965, and Brazil opened its embassy in Manila in 1970.
Bilateral agreements on double taxation, agricultural cooperation, cooperation between diplomatic academies, defense cooperation and partial visa waiver are in force. In 2006, Brazil and the Philippines established a bilateral consultations mechanism. The 6th and last meeting took place in June 2023, in Manila.
In 2023, trade between Brazil and the Philippines reached $1.5 billion, of which $1.5 billion in Brazilian exports and $314 million in imports. The Philippines is one of the ten members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), founded in 1967.In 2018, Brazil’s trade with ASEAN countries surpassed $33.8 billion.

2003 – Deputy Minister of Agrarian Reform, Jose Mari Ponce, visits Brazil
2005 – Ambassador Luiz Augusto de Araujo Castro visits the Philippines as special envoy of the President of the Republic
2006 – Minister of the Environment, Angelo Reyes, visits Brazil to take part in the 8th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity
2006 – The Minister of Agrarian Reform, Nasser C. Pangandaman, visits Brazil to take part in the International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development
2006 – The Minister of Agriculture, Domingo Panaganiban, visits Brazil on the occasion of the G20 Agriculture High Level Meeting
2007 – The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Alberto Romulo, visits Brazil to take part in the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC)
2008 – The Minister of Social Welfare and Development, Esperanza Cabral, visits Brazil to take part in the 3rd World Congress against Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents
2008 – Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Edsel T. Custodio, visits Brazil as head of the Philippine delegation to the 1st MERCOSUR-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting
2009 – President Gloria Arroyo visits Brazil
2010 – The First Bilateral Consultations Meeting is held in Manila
2011 – The Secretary (Minister) of Foreign Affairs, Albert del Rosario, visits Brazil
2012 – Minister of Planning Arsenio Balisacan takes part in the Rio+20 Conference
2012 – The Second Bilateral Consultations Meeting, is held in Brasília
