Kingdom of Cambodia
Diplomatic relations between Brazil and Cambodia were suspended in 1966 and resumed in 1994. The two countries still do not have resident embassies in their respective capitals. The Embassy of Brazil in Bangkok (Thailand) is responsible for overseeing the relations with Cambodia and provides consular assistance to Brazilian nationals in the country. On the Cambodian side, contacts with Brazil are established through the country's Embassy in Havana (Cuba).
Agreements on education and partial visa waiver are in force. In 2012, the foreign ministries of the two countries established a political consultations mechanism, with a view to holding regular meetings on topics of the bilateral, regional and multilateral agenda. The last meeting was held in Brasília, in 2022.
In the field of cooperation, a highlight is the project developed by the IBSA Fund, comprising Brazil, India and South Africa. Between 2010 and 2013, the project constructed a pavilion for children with special needs at a hospital belonging to the Ministry of Health of Cambodia. In addition, healthcare professionals received training.
In 2022, Brazil's trade with Cambodia reached $96.8 million, with Brazilian exports of $31.4 million, and imports from Cambodia of $65.4 million. Cambodia is a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), founded in 1967. In 2018, Brazil's trade with ASEAN countries surpassed $33.8 billion
