Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal
Brazil and Nepal established diplomatic relations in 1976. The two countries have resident embassies in Brasilia and Katmandu since 2010 and 2011 respectively.
Agreements in the areas of technical cooperation and partial visa waiver (for holders of diplomatic, official and service passports) are in effect. The foreign ministries of the two countries established in 2011 a political consultations mechanism aimed at holding regular meetings on bilateral, regional and multilateral themes. Until now, two meetings of the mechanism were held, in 2012 and in 2018.
In 2021, Brazil’s trade with Nepal totaled $4.3 million, of which $4.1 million accounted for Brazilian exports. The main products sold by Brazil were vegetables, corn and alcoholic beverages.
