Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Ibrahim al Jaafari, to Brazil – June 1-3, 2015

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Ibrahim al Jaafari, will be on an official visit to Brazil from June 1 to 3, 2015.

On June 2, Minister al Jaafari will be received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, to address topics on the bilateral agenda, such as increasing and diversifying economic relations, trade and investment, as well as other issues on the regional and international agendas of interest to both countries.

Diplomatic relations between Brazil and Iraq date back to 1939, when the first mutual trade agreement was signed. In March 2012, the Embassy of Brazil was reopened in Iraq’s capital, thereby facilitating the bilateral dialogue and enhancing the flow of high level visits between the two countries.
