Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Portas, to Brazil – São Paulo and Brasília, September 3-8, 2012
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Portas, is visiting Brazil from September 3-8. The visit takes place in the context of the “Year of Portugal in Brazil” and of the “Year of Brazil in Portugal”, to be simultaneously celebrated from September 7, 2012, to June 10, 2013. They will include cultural, economic and science and technology innovation events.
In Brasília, on September 6, Minister Paulo Portas will hold working meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, and with the Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Fernando Pimentel.
Between 2007 and 2011, bilateral trade increased by 35%, reaching US$ 2.89 billion. In the first half of 2012, trade exchange between Brazil and Portugal totaled US$ 1.46 billion. Between January and July this year, Portuguese investments in Brazil exceeded US$ 362 million, an increase by 67% in relation to the same period in 2011.
