Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finalnd, Timo Soini – Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro, August 11-14, 2016.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Timo Soini, will visit Brazil between 11 and 14 of August.
On the 11th, Minister Timo Soini will be hosted in Brasília by Minister of Foreign Affairs José Serra. During the meeting, the two foreign ministers will address themes on the bilateral, regional and multilateral agendas, including commerce, investment and trade negotiations between Mercosur and the European Union. On the occasion, the document which sets priorities for cooperation between Brazil and Finland will be signed.
The meeting is an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation in education, science, technology and innovation. Finland is international reference for education and one of the countries with the highest level of investment in innovation (about 4 % of the GDP). In 2015, Finland ranked 6th in the Global Innovation Index of the World Intellectual Property Organization.
There are about fifty Finnish companies operating in Brazil primarily in the telecommunications, forestry, mining and energy sectors.
