Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities of São Tomé and Príncipe, Ilza Amado Vaz, to Brazil – Brasília, March 21
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, met today, March 21, in Brasília, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities of São Tomé and Príncipe, Ilza Amado Vaz.
In 2025, São Tomé and Príncipe celebrates 50 years of independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations with Brazil.
The meeting advanced the bilateral political dialogue and addressed regional and multilateral issues in forums such as the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), currently chaired by São Tomé and Príncipe, the Zone of Peace and Cooperation of the South Atlantic (ZOPACAS), as well as topics such as the fight against hunger and poverty, the environment, and climate change.
On the occasion, the Complementary Adjustment related to the "Access to Justice in São Tomé and Príncipe" Project was signed.
In 2024, trade between the two countries grew by 24.3% compared to 2023. Bilateral trade was driven by Brazilian exports, which totaled USD 4.6 million.
