The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Serra, will visit Mexico on July 25. On the occasion, he will hold working meetings with Foreign Minister Ruiz Massieu and Secretary of Economy Ildefonso Guajardo, with whom he will review the bilateral agenda, including negotiations on the expansion and deepening of the bilateral agreement on trade preferences (Economic Complementation Agreement no. 53), as well as regional and global themes.
Brazil and Mexico are the two largest economies in Latin America, with a bilateral trade flow of USD 8 billion in 2015.
The visit of Minister José Serra takes place at a time when bilateral relations between Brazil and Mexico gain momentum. In addition to the discussions on the expansion of trade and investment between the two countries, the Brazil-Mexico Agreement on the Mutual Recognition of Cachaça and Tequila as Geographical Indications and Distinctive Products should be signed.
