Visit of Minister Mauro Vieira to the United Arab Emirates – September 11, 2024
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, will make an official visit tomorrow, September 11, to the United Arab Emirates, where he will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brazil and the United Arab Emirates.
During the visit, discussions will focus on strengthening the Strategic Partnership in areas such as trade, investment, energy, defense, agriculture, and science and technology, as well as regional and global issues.
Brazil and the United Arab Emirates cooperate on the climate agenda, in view of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) set to take place in Dubai and COP30, scheduled to be hosted in Belém do Pará, Brazil, in 2025.
In 2023, trade between the two countries reached USD 4.4 billion, with a surplus of USD 2 billion in favor of Brazil. In July, negotiations began on establishing a free trade agreement between the United Arab Emirates and MERCOSUR.
