Visit of Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira to Portugal – Lisbon, October 9-10, 2018
Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira will visit Lisbon on October 9 -10.
The Brazilian foreign minister will hold a working meeting with the minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Augusto Santos Silva, to discuss the main themes of the bilateral agenda, including the growing cooperation in trade, investment, science, technology, innovation, defense, culture and education.
A remarkable example of bilateral cooperation in leading-edge technology is the production of the KC-390 military transport aircraft, which will have nearly 25% of its parts manufactured in Portugal and later sent to Brazil for final assembly.
The two ministers will also address trade negotiations between Mercosur and the European Union, regional and global themes of mutual interest and the partnership in the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP) and the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB).
Minister Aloysio Nunes will attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition ‘The Portuguese Language in us’, in the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology in Lisbon. The exhibition is an initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil in partnership with the Government of the State of São Paulo, the Roberto Marinho Foundation, the Portuguese Language Museum and the International Institute of the Portuguese Language.
In 2017, bilateral trade reached 2.2 billion dollars, the largest amount since 2012. There are currently some 600 Portuguese companies – or companies funded with Portuguese capital – operating in Brazil.
