The Prime Minister of Sweden, Fredrik Reinfeldt, to visit Brazil – 16 to 19 May 2011
The Prime Minister of Sweden, Fredrik Reinfeldt, is making an official visit to Brazil between 16 and 18 May. In Brasília on the 17, the Swedish Head of Government held a working meeting with President Dilma Rousseff.
Prime Minister Reinfeldt’s visit was an opportunity to assess the implementation of the Action Plan under the bilateral Strategic Partnership, established in 2009, particularly in areas such as science, technology and innovation; cooperation on education; and biofuels, including trilateral cooperation projects. The two Heads of Government also went over the main issues in the multilateral agenda, such as the preparation for the Rio+20 Conference, the recent events in Northern Africa and the Middle East and the reform of global governance organizations.
In 2010, bilateral trade exceeded US$ 2 billion. In the first three months of 2011, Brazilian exports to Sweden rose 21%, and imports grew 30,7%, when compared to the same period in 2010. Sweden is Brazil’s 19th largest investor.
