The Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, to visit Brazil – Brasília and São Paulo, April 13-19, 2012
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, will visit Brazil between April 13 and 19. It is the first visit of a Georgian Head of Government to the country.
In Brasília, the Prime Minister of Georgia will be hosted by Vice-President Michel Temer and by the Minister of External Relations, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota. He will also take part in the 1st High-Level Annual Conference of the Open Government Partnership. In São Paulo, he will meet with Governor Geraldo Alckmin and visit Brazilian companies.
Minister Patriota and Prime Minister Gilauri will review the strengthening of the partnerships in areas such as economic and technical cooperation. They will also address global affairs, such as the outlook for the United Nations Conference for Sustainable Development (Rio+20) and the reform of multilateral institutions.
Relations between Brazil and Georgia have been strengthening since the resident Embassies were opened in Brasília, in 2010, and in 2011, in Tbilisi. Last year, the volume of trade between the two countries reached US$ 211 million, a 82% increase over 2010.
