The Minister of External Relations of the Dominican Republic, Carlos Morales Troncoso, will visit Brazil on December 20, when he will be hosted by Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota.
The Foreign Ministers will go over the main sectors of the bilateral cooperation, including infrastructure, investment, education, defense, sports, environmental resources and energy, particularly biofuel production projects.
The second largest economy in the Central American and Caribbean region, the Dominican Republic achieved its eight consecutive year of growth. It is the fourth largest destination for official Brazilian funding, mainly for energy and road works. Brazilian companies have invested in several sectors of the Dominican economy, such as construction, energy, steelworks, shoes, beverages and aerial transportation.
Bilateral trade flow has grown by more than 100% between 2002 and 2011, from US$ 211 million to US$ 441 million. In 2012, bilateral trade flow will exceed 2011 figures, having reached over US$ 480 million by November.
