The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Uri Rosenthal, to visit Brazil - São Paulo and Brasília, 28 and 29 May 2012
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Uri Rosenthal, is visiting Brazil on 28 and 29 May. While in Brasília, he will be hosted by the Minister of External Relations, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, and by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Marco Antonio Raupp.
On 29 May, Ministers Patriota and Rosenthal will open the conference "Approaches to International Security: the Brazilian and Dutch experiences", organized by the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and the Clingendael Institute.
The Foreign Ministers will address the strengthening of bilateral partnerships on education, science, technology and innovation. They will also assess opportunities for the expansion of trade and investment flows between the two countries. The Ministers will also address global affairs, in particular the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20).
The Netherlands are Brazil’s 6th main trading partner and the 4th main destination for Brazilian exports. In 2011, bilateral trade flow reached US$ 15.9 billion, a 32.6% increase over the previous year. Dutch investments in Brazil are concentrated in agribusiness, shipbuilding, port logistics and infrastructure.
