The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Morocco, Saad-Eddine El-Othmani, will visit Brasília on September 18, 2013, when he will be hosted by Minister Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado.
Both Ministers will discuss the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in areas such as social development, agriculture and tourism, among others. They will also examine relevant issues on the regional and multilateral agenda. Currently, Morocco occupies a non-permanent seat on the Security Council of the United Nations.
The Moroccan Minister will also meet with the Vice-President of the Republic, Michel Temer, and visit the National Congress, the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), and the Federation of the Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP).
Bilateral trade increased fivefold in the past decade, from US$ 381 million in 2002 to US$ 2.15 billion in 2012. Today Morocco is Brazil's fifth largest trading partner in Africa and among the Arab countries. Among Brazilian companies that operate in the Moroccan market are Bunge, Marco Polo, Santos, Havaianas, Embraer and Votorantim Group, among others.
