The Minister of External Relations to visit Portugal – Lisbon, March 20, 2014
The Minister of External Relations, Ambassador Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado, will make a working visit to Portugal on March 20, 2014, when he will meet with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Rui Machete.
Following the visit of President Dilma Rousseff to Lisbon on June 10, 2013, the two ministers will examine the strengthening of trade and investment flows, partnerships in science, technology and innovation, as well as initiatives to facilitate mutual recognition of certificates and diplomas. They will also assess the international economic scenario and the agenda on global peace and security.
Brazil is the fourth major destination for Portuguese direct investment abroad. It is estimated that there are currently about 600 Portuguese businesses or companies with Portuguese capital operating in Brazil. Brazilian investments in Portugal have grown over 250 % in the last ten years. Bilateral trade in 2013 reached US$ 1.9 billion.
