The Minister of External Relations to co-chair the First Meeting of the Brazil-Jamaica Joint Commission in Kingston and hold a work meeting in Havana - Kingston and Havana, February 13, 2014

The Minister of External Relations, Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado, will visit Kingston on February 13, 2014. He will co-chair, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Senator Arnold Joseph Nicholson, the First Meeting of the Brazil-Jamaica Joint Commission and the inauguration ceremony of the HEART / SENAI professional training center, the main Brazilian cooperation project in the Anglophone Caribbean.
The inaugural meeting of the Brazil-Jamaica Joint Commission will address, among other matters, the following themes: developing political dialogue; opportunities for trade, investment and tourism; energy; technical, cultural, educational and sports cooperation; exchange of tax information; defense cooperation; consular affairs; and air interconnection.
On the same day, the Minister of External Relations will fly to Havana, where he will hold a working meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment in Cuba, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz . Issues relating to the BRICS-CELAC cooperation will be discussed, as well as aspects of the bilateral agenda on trade and investment, particularly, with regard to the Mariel Logistics Support Area.
