4th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Brasilia Consensus – New York, September 27, 2024

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, participated in the meeting of South American foreign ministers today in New York. The meeting took place within the framework of the Brasilia Consensus, adopted by 12 countries in May 2023, at the initiative of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The foreign ministers reviewed the process of implementing the “Roadmap for South American Integration”. Adopted in October 2023, the document established a set of principles and guidelines for the implementation of concrete cooperation initiatives in 17 priority areas for regional integration.

Highlighting progress in sectors such as infrastructure and transportation, health, disaster risk management, and combating transnational organized crime, among others topics, Brazil reaffirmed its commitment to regional integration and expressed confidence in the importance of dialogue and cooperation in addressing the region's challenges.
