PRESS RELEASE NO. 105
Suspension of humanitarian aid entry into the Gaza Strip
The Brazilian Government deplores the Israeli decision to suspend the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, which worsens an already precarious humanitarian situation and weakens the existing ceasefire.
In calling for the immediate reversal of this measure, Brazil notes that, pursuant to the provisional measures issued by the International Court of Justice in 2024, Israel is obligated to ensure uninterrupted access to essential basic services and humanitarian assistance for the population of Gaza. The deliberate obstruction and political use of humanitarian aid constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law.
Brazil urges all parties to fully comply with the terms of the ceasefire agreement and to engage in negotiations aimed at securing a permanent cessation of hostilities, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the release of all hostages, and the establishment of robust mechanisms for the unimpeded, foreseeable, and adequately scaled delivery of humanitarian assistance.
