Situation in Syria
The Brazilian government is following with concern the escalation of hostilities in Syria. It urges all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and to guarantee the integrity of the civilian population and infrastructure.
Brazil reaffirms the need for full respect of international law, including international humanitarian law, as well as Syrian territorial unity and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
Brazil supports the efforts towards a political and negotiated solution to the conflict in Syria which respects the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Embassy in Damascus, continues to monitor the situation of Brazilians in Syria. There is no record of Brazilian nationals among the victims of hostilities. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges all Brazilians in Syria to leave the country.
