PRESS RELEASE N. 103
Signing of bilateral minute between Brazil and Paraguay on border trade
The ministers of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and Paraguay, Ernesto Araújo and Antonio Rivas, signed today, in an event held via videoconference, a bilateral minute allowing the partial resumption of border trade between the two countries in the twin cities of Foz do Iguaçu – Ciudad del Este; Mundo Novo – Salto del Guairá; and Ponta Porã – Pedro Juan Caballero.
The agreement allows the opening of trading points contiguous with the borders of the two countries and establishes procedures to ensure the purchase of goods by citizens in these locations, meeting customs, migratory and sanitary requirements determined by each country. Purchases can be made remotely through e-commerce or delivery services and sent to these trading points, where they can be picked up by individuals from the other country.
The signing of the bilateral minute reflects the excellent state of Brazil-Paraguay relations and adds to the important results achieved in 2020, such as the conclusion of an Economic Complementation Agreement and an Automotive Agreement.
