Signing of agreement between Brazil and Australia on work and holiday visa

Today Brazil and Australia have signed a memorandum of understanding on work and holiday visa.

From July 1, 2022, when it will come into force, the agreement will allow 500 young Brazilians aged beween 18 and 30 to stay in Australia each year for up to 12 months, with the possibility to work and study.

At present, to work or study in Australia, Brazilians are required to have a prior contract with an employer or education institution. Brazilians are the eighth largest group of international students in Australia (nearly 9,000 students).

Brazil also has work and holiday agreements with Germany, France, and New Zealand.
