Security Council meeting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
As President of the United Nations Security Council, Brazil called an emergency meeting with the members of the body to discuss on Oct.8 the latest developments in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Brazil deeply regrets the human losses and condemned the attacks against civilians.
Brazil underscored that the parties must halt the use of violence against civilians and fulfill their obligations under international humanitarian law. Brazil called for maximum restraint by all parties in order to prevent escalation with unpredictable consequences for international peace and security. It also emphasized the urgent need to resume peace process.
The Brazilian government reaffirms its commitment to the two-state solution, with an economically viable Palestinian State, living in peace and security with Israel, within mutually agreed and internationally recognized borders.
