Regulation of the Agreement on Mobility within the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP)
On September 5th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security published the Interministerial Ordinance regulating the granting of temporary visas and residence permits to nationals of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) under the Agreement on Mobility among its Member States (Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste).
The ordinance puts the agreement into practical effect by establishing clear and concise rules for obtaining visas and the corresponding residence permits.
The text outlines the temporary visa provisions for CPLP nationals falling within the categories specified in Article 7(2) of the CPLP Mobility Agreement: teachers, entrepreneurs, cultural agents, and exchange students.
This measure reaffirms Brazil's commitment to ensuring that migratory flows are regular, safe, and orderly, upholding both the interests of national immigration policy and the international agreements undertaken by the country.
