PRESS RELEASE N. 302
Reciprocal adoption of e-visas by Brazil and Mexico – Brazil-Mexico Joint Statement
In the context of the strengthening of the bilateral relations between Brazil and Mexico, the two governments have discussed the implementation of additional measures aimed at facilitating the safe, orderly, and regular movement and transit of their nationals between the two countries.
In this regard, following the signing of agreements during the 5th Brazil-Mexico Binational Commission meeting held during the recent visit of Brazil's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, to Mexico, and the subsequent meeting between Minister Vieira and Mexico's Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Alícia Bárcena Ibarra, the two countries have reached an agreement to establish a reciprocal e-visa system in the coming months.
In light of the shared objective of gradually resuming the Visa Waiver Agreement between Brazil and Mexico, the reciprocal adoption of e-visas will allow Brazilian and Mexican citizens to apply for a visitor visa for tourism or business purposes in each other's countries quickly, safely, and without the need to visit a consulate in person.
