PRESS RELEASE N. 217
Peru opens its market for exports of bovine and porcine blood derivatives
The Brazilian government has welcomed the announcement by the government of Peru authorizing the export of Brazilian bovine and porcine blood products intended for animal feed.
Blood products are by-products of the agricultural industry used as an animal feed ingredient to increase the nutritional value of animal diet.
This is the third market opening in Peru for Brazilian agricultural products in less than six months. Brazilian agricultural exports to that country have totaled more than $724 million in the past year, with emphasis to forest products, meat and soy. In the first four months of 2024, exports amounted to $208 million.
Between January and May of 2024, 46 markets were opened in 27 countries. A total of 124 new markets have been opened in 51 countries since the beginning of President Lula’s third term.
These openings are the result of joint efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
