Operation "Raízes do Cedro": first Brazilian repatriation flight from Lebanon
The Brazilian government is pleased to announce that a repatriation flight carrying Brazilian citizens has just taken off from Beirut. After a stopover in Lisbon, the flight is scheduled to land in Guarulhos, São Paulo, on Sunday morning, October 6th, bringing 229 passengers back to Brazil, including ten infants and three pets.
The Brazilian nationals and their families, supported by the consular section of Itamaraty through the Brazilian Embassy in Beirut, are traveling aboard the Brazilian Air Force's KC-30 aircraft in a joint operation of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense.
This first flight, initially scheduled to leave Beirut yesterday, October 4th, had to be postponed to today for security reasons. A second flight is scheduled for later next week, according to security conditions on the ground.
The Brazilian government reiterates the warning to follow the security guidelines of local authorities and, for those who have the resources to do so, to leave the Lebanese territory by their own means. Beirut airport remains in operation, mainly with regular flights by the Lebanese airline Middle Eastern Airlines.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs consular service remains available if needed: +55 (61) 98260-0610 (with WhatsApp).
