PRESS RELEASE NO. 129
The Brazilian government announces that, during the visit of the Minister of Agriculture of the state of Sarawak, Malaysia, to Brazil, an agreement was reached on the model of the International Sanitary Certificate for the export of Brazilian poultry and beef.
In 2024, Brazil exported over 30,000 tons of poultry and beef to Malaysia, totaling approximately USD 67 million. The state of Sarawak, with a population of about 2.5 million people, is located on an island separate from mainland Malaysia and has specific food import requirements. With Sarawak's acceptance of the international sanitary certificate, exports to Malaysia are expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
With these new agreements, Brazilian agribusiness has secured its 44th market opening in 2025, totaling 344 new business opportunities since the beginning of 2023.
These achievements result from the joint efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).
