On the passing of Sheik Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa

The Brazilian government was deeply saddened to learn of the passing today of His Royal Highness, Sheik Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Sheik Khalifa played a decisive role in consolidating the Bahraini sovereignty and prosperity, having served as the Prime Minister of Bahrain since the country gained independence in 1971.

Relations between Brazil and Bahrain are going through one of their finest hours, with the deepening of political dialogue and the establishment of new cooperation fronts based on a shared commitment to peace and prosperity.

The Brazilian government extends its sincerest condolences to the government and people of Bahrein.
