Minister of Foreign Affairs to travel to Algeria – Algiers, October 28, 2015
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, will visit Algiers on October 28, 2015.
The Minister will hold meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ramtane Lamamra, and will be received by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.
The two Foreign Ministers will chair the 1st Meeting of the Brazil-Algeria Strategic Dialogue Mechanism. On the occasion, they will examine initiatives for the expansion and diversification of bilateral relations, as well as the main themes of the regional and international agendas, especially the situation in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
Algeria is the second largest Brazilian trade partner in Africa and in the Arab world. In 2014, bilateral trade amounted to 4.07 billion US dollars. In the field of investments, the sectors of infrastructure and logistics, machinery and equipment, food processing and medicine production are particularly promising for partnerships between Brazilian and Algerian companies. Brazil and Algeria also keep diversified technical cooperation agenda including, among others, successful initiatives in the areas of health and professional training.
