Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Portas, to visit Brazil – Brasilia, May 22, 2013
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, will hold a work meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Portas, in Brasília on May 21.
The Foreign Ministers will address the main themes on the bilateral and biregional agenda. They will exchange views on the current state of negotiations for an Association Agreement between Mercosur and the European Union and the major topics on the economic agenda as well as issues related to peace and security.
Bilateral trade has become more balanced and reached, in 2012, the volume of US$ 2.6 billion. Brazil is the seventh largest investor in Portugal, having contributed US$ 128 million to the country's economy in the past year. Brazil is the fourth major destination for Portugal's foreign direct investment, having received US$ 547 million in the same period.
