Market opening in Japan – joint press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock
The Brazilian government welcomes the announcement of sanitary approval for Brazilian exports of live ornamental crabs to the Japanese market, without the need for an International Zoosanitary Certificate.
Japan was the 4th largest destination for Brazilian agricultural products in 2023, with exports totaling $4.1 billion. Between January and October 2024, sales of agricultural products to Japan amounted to $2.84 billion.
The authorization adds to the opening of the Japanese market for seven other products this year: Hass avocado, cassava bran, hay, dehydrated citrus pulp, dried clove flower, dried yerba mate leaf and dried macadamia fruit .
Brazil reaches the mark of 206 new markets opened in 2024, totaling 284 openings in 62 countries since the beginning of 2023.
